The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a high-density 1U enterprise rack server platform designed for virtualization, cloud infrastructure, database applications, web hosting and demanding data-center workloads.

This Dell PowerEdge R640 barebone package includes the server chassis and system board with an 8-bay 2.5-inch front storage configuration, 2 × 750W power supplies, 2 × 10GbE + 2 × 1GbE network connectivity, rack rail kit and front bezel. CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD storage and drive caddies are not included.

8-Bay 2.5-Inch Front Storage Configuration

This PowerEdge R640 features 8 × 2.5-inch front hot-swap drive bays. The 8-bay design provides a flexible foundation for building an enterprise storage configuration using compatible SAS, SATA or supported NVMe storage configurations.

Actual SAS, SATA and NVMe support depends on the installed backplane, storage controller and internal cabling. The presence of eight physical bays does not automatically mean that every bay supports every drive interface.

Dual-Socket Intel Xeon Scalable Platform

The PowerEdge R640 is a dual-socket enterprise server platform designed for compatible Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This allows the server to be configured for a wide range of workloads, from efficient virtualization hosts to high-core-count enterprise compute systems.

24 DDR4 DIMM Slots

The R640 system board provides 24 DDR4 DIMM slots for enterprise ECC memory. Actual supported memory capacity, frequency and DIMM type depend on the installed processor generation and memory population configuration.

Dual 750W Power Supplies Included

This package includes 2 × 750W power supply units. A matched dual-PSU configuration provides redundant power capability for supported R640 configurations, helping maintain server operation if one power supply fails or loses its power source.

2×10GbE + 2×1GbE Network Connectivity

The included networking configuration provides 2 × 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports plus 2 × 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports, providing a combination of high-bandwidth and standard Gigabit connectivity for virtualization, storage traffic, server networks and enterprise infrastructure.

The exact network adapter model and the physical connector type of the 10GbE ports should be confirmed from the installed NIC/NDC before deployment.

Rack Rail Kit Included

A compatible rack rail kit is included with the package, allowing the PowerEdge R640 to be installed into a suitable server rack.

Front Bezel Included

The package also includes a Dell PowerEdge R640 front bezel, providing a clean professional appearance and additional protection for the front of the server.

iDRAC9 Server Management

The PowerEdge R640 platform features iDRAC9 with Lifecycle Controller, providing hardware monitoring, configuration, diagnostics and remote server-management capabilities. Available remote-management functions depend on the installed iDRAC license.
