Dell PowerEdge R730xd 2U Barebone Rack Server Package

The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a highly expandable 2U enterprise rack server designed for virtualization, storage, database, cloud infrastructure, hosting, backup, and other demanding data-center workloads. This barebone package provides the core server platform and essential components while allowing the customer to select the processors, DDR4 memory, and HDD/SSD storage according to the required workload and budget.

This package includes the original Dell R730xd system board, two CPU heatsinks, Dell PERC H730 hardware RAID controller, SAS/SATA hot-plug backplane, dual 750W redundant hot-plug power supplies, original front bezel, Dell ReadyRails rack rail kit, and complete R730xd 2U chassis.

Dual-Socket Intel Xeon Platform

The PowerEdge R730xd supports up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or E5-2600 v4 processors. This dual-socket architecture makes the platform suitable for applications requiring high core counts, substantial memory capacity, and strong multi-threaded performance.

24 DDR4 DIMM Slots

The R730xd provides 24 DDR4 DIMM slots across its dual-processor architecture. Compatible ECC Registered or Load-Reduced DDR4 server memory can be installed according to Dell's supported memory population rules and the capabilities of the selected processors.

Dell PERC H730 Hardware RAID Controller

A Dell PERC H730 hardware RAID controller is included with this package. The H730 is designed for enterprise SAS/SATA storage management and supports common hardware RAID configurations, allowing compatible drives to be configured for performance, redundancy, or a combination of both.

SAS/SATA Hot-Plug Backplane

The included hot-plug backplane supports compatible SAS and SATA storage devices. Dell manufactured the R730xd in several storage configurations, including 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drive-bay versions, so the exact number and size of supported drives depends on the chassis and backplane supplied with the package.

Dual 750W Hot-Plug Redundant Power Supplies

The package includes two 750W hot-plug power supply units. When configured for redundant operation and used within the system's supported power requirements, the dual-PSU architecture helps improve server availability and allows a failed power supply to be serviced without requiring a complete power shutdown.

Two Original Dell CPU Heatsinks

Two original Dell PowerEdge R730xd processor heatsinks are included, allowing the server to be prepared for a dual-processor configuration after compatible CPUs are installed.

Dell ReadyRails Rack Rail Kit Included

A Dell ReadyRails rack rail kit is supplied with the server package for installation in a compatible server rack. This makes the system suitable for professional data-center, ISP, enterprise server-room, and rack-mounted infrastructure deployments.

Original Dell Front Bezel

The original Dell PowerEdge R730xd front bezel is included, providing a clean professional appearance and helping protect the front drive area from unintended access.

Flexible Storage Platform

The R730xd platform was offered in multiple high-density storage configurations. Depending on the installed chassis and backplane, Dell configurations include up to 24 front 2.5-inch drives with optional rear drives, 12 front 3.5-inch drives with optional additional drives, and other specialized mixed-drive configurations.
