Connected infrastructure engineered for speed and resilience.
The Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processor family is a range of enterprise-class server CPUs based on Intel's Broadwell architecture and manufactured using a 14nm process. These processors are designed primarily for single- and dual-socket servers, virtualization platforms, data centers, storage systems and professional computing applications.
The E5-2600 v4 family includes numerous processor models with different core counts, clock speeds, cache capacities and power ratings, allowing server configurations to be optimized for workloads ranging from general-purpose computing to high-density virtualization.
Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors use Intel's Broadwell-generation server architecture. Compared with earlier E5 generations, the platform provides high core density, DDR4 memory support, PCI Express 3.0 connectivity and enterprise virtualization capabilities.
Selected E5-2600 v4 processors provide up to 22 physical CPU cores. Models with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology can provide up to 44 processing threads per CPU, making dual-processor configurations particularly suitable for heavily multi-threaded workloads.
The E5-2600 v4 family is primarily designed for 2-socket (2S) server platforms. A compatible dual-socket motherboard can therefore use two supported E5-2600 v4 processors for increased total core count, memory capacity and computing performance.
The platform supports four memory channels per processor and ECC server memory. Depending on the exact CPU model, supported DDR4 speeds can include:
Higher-end E5-2600 v4 models support DDR4 memory speeds up to 2400 MT/s. Actual operating speed depends on the specific processor, motherboard, DIMM type and memory configuration.
Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors provide PCI Express 3.0 connectivity, with up to 40 PCIe lanes per processor. This provides substantial I/O bandwidth for compatible RAID controllers, SAS HBAs, network adapters, NVMe storage devices, GPUs and other PCIe expansion hardware.
Cache capacity varies by processor model. High-end members of the family provide as much as 55MB Intel Smart Cache, helping support data-intensive and multi-threaded server workloads.

Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors are commonly found in enterprise servers from Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, Supermicro and other manufacturers. Compatibility depends on the exact server model, motherboard revision and BIOS/firmware support.
Before upgrading an E5 v3-based server to an E5 v4 processor, always verify that the manufacturer provides the required BIOS and firmware support.
Xeon E5-2600 v4 is a processor family, not one individual CPU model. Specifications such as core count, thread count, clock frequency, cache, TDP and supported memory speed vary considerably between individual E5-2600 v4 processors.
Always check the complete CPU model number, such as E5-2650 v4, E5-2680 v4 or E5-2699 v4, before ordering.
