The MACHINIST X99 MR9S is an ATX motherboard designed for Intel LGA2011-3 processors, including compatible Intel Xeon E5-2600 V3/V4 and other supported LGA2011-3 CPUs. With 8 DDR4 memory slots, quad-channel memory architecture, NVMe M.2 storage, multiple PCI Express expansion slots and Gigabit Ethernet, it provides a flexible platform for workstation, gaming, virtualization and multi-instance computing systems.
The X99 MR9S uses an LGA2011-3 CPU socket and supports compatible Intel Xeon E5 V3 and V4 series processors. This provides access to a wide selection of high-core-count Xeon CPUs suitable for multi-threaded applications, virtualization, rendering, gaming and workstation workloads.
The motherboard provides eight DDR4 DIMM slots with quad-channel memory architecture and supports up to 256GB of memory according to the manufacturer's specification. It supports compatible desktop DDR4 as well as ECC/registered server memory configurations, depending on the installed processor and memory type.
When memory is installed according to the recommended population configuration, the quad-channel architecture provides substantially more aggregate memory bandwidth than conventional dual-channel desktop platforms, making the board attractive for memory-intensive workstation and multi-tasking applications.
The X99 MR9S includes an M.2 slot supporting NVMe SSDs through a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface. This allows compatible NVMe solid state drives to provide significantly higher storage performance than conventional SATA hard drives and SATA SSDs.
In addition to the PCIe NVMe M.2 interface, the motherboard provides a separate SATA-based M.2 interface for compatible M.2 SATA solid state drives.
A dedicated M.2 interface is provided for compatible wireless networking modules, allowing Wi-Fi functionality to be added when the appropriate module and antennas are installed.
The manufacturer's current MR9S specification lists two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, one PCIe x4 slot and two PCIe x1 slots. These can accommodate compatible graphics cards, network adapters, storage controllers, sound cards and other PCI Express expansion hardware.
The manufacturer's specification lists six conventional SATA interfaces, consisting of four SATA 3.0 ports and two SATA 2.0 ports. These can be used for compatible SATA HDDs, SATA SSDs and other SATA storage devices.
The motherboard includes an onboard Realtek Gigabit Ethernet controller, providing up to 1000Mbps wired network connectivity for compatible Ethernet networks.
Integrated Realtek audio provides onboard sound capability for desktop, workstation and gaming applications without requiring a separate sound card for basic audio requirements.
