Connected infrastructure engineered for speed and resilience.
This MikroTik RouterOS Level 6 2.5-inch SATA drive is intended for compatible x86-based router and networking systems. The unit shown is labeled MikroTik RouterOS Level 6 and uses a standard 2.5″ Serial ATA (SATA) storage interface.
RouterOS Level 6 is MikroTik's highest traditional RouterOS license level and is commonly referred to as the Controller license. It is suitable for advanced routing, ISP, hotspot, VPN and network-management applications where the capabilities of RouterOS and the Level 6 licensing tier are required.
MikroTik identifies Level 6 (Controller) as the highest RouterOS license level. Compared with lower license levels, Level 6 removes several licensing limits, including limits on PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP and HotSpot users.
The drive uses a 2.5-inch SATA form factor, allowing it to be installed in compatible x86 router PCs, industrial computers and network appliances that support standard SATA storage.
MikroTik RouterOS can operate on compatible third-party x86 hardware. A properly licensed RouterOS x86 installation can turn a compatible PC or network appliance into a powerful software router.

For MikroTik RouterOS x86 installations, the license is associated with the system's Software ID, which is bound to the storage device's MBR. Therefore, the licensed drive itself is an important part of the RouterOS licensing installation.
Do not format, repartition, clone, overwrite or re-image the drive using ordinary third-party disk utilities. Doing so may destroy the RouterOS license.
The physical drive can generally be moved to another compatible x86 computer while retaining the license, but changes to storage controllers, adapters or BIOS/UEFI configuration can potentially change the Software ID. Compatibility and license status should therefore be verified before deployment.
